It's about capturing the feeling of summer in the city. The geometric shapes of the housing estates that disappear in the glaring sunlight. All that remains is the shimmering warmth.
Initially, this work focused more on the structure of the buildings and the view around the corner into a small street. This was insufficient, and I felt that I needed to make it more abstract to reveal the idea directly to the viewer.
Now that winter is upon us, I like to be inspired by memories of summer. I like to remember the feeling of wearing a breezy summer dress and being barefoot in sandals, enjoying happy evenings outdoors with friends that go on through the night.
Perhaps this is my way of clinging on to summer a little longer.
