OSS is a ceramic sculpture that embodies quiet tension and alertness—an entity that seems to listen to the world before the world notices it. Its upright, slightly forward-reaching posture feels both fragile and powerful, like a moment just before movement or decision.
The form of the sculpture rises slenderly upward, emphasizing verticality and inner tension. Dark bluish-black layers of glaze cover the surface like nocturnal skin, cut through by lighter patches of warm yellow and orange tones. These areas read as inner traces or emotional fissures, hinting at the creature’s inner world and concealed sensitivity.
OSS’s head is elongated and sharp, with ear- or horn-like forms stretching upward, reinforcing the motif of attentiveness and listening. The distinctly marked eyes give the figure an alert, almost vulnerable expression. The hands and feet end in sharp claws, linking the form to animal instinct and readiness for defense, yet the pose is not aggressive—rather cautious and curious.
The surface is lively and uneven, clearly bearing the marks of hand-building. This material honesty emphasizes the sculpture’s physicality and presence, making OSS not merely a depiction, but a being that exists in space.
OSS appears as a liminal figure—somewhere between animal, fantasy, and psychological portrait. It offers no answers, but stands in silent dialogue with the viewer, evoking the sense that we, too, are being observed.
